When a repair is legal — and when it is not
A proper puncture repair can save a tyre. A bad one is a blow-out waiting for the N25. We repair damage in the central tread area to EU practice: inspect from the inside, fill the injury, and patch. We do not repair the shoulder or the sidewall, and we do not send a plug-only tyre back onto a public road.
If the tyre is not repairable we will show you why — on the tyre, not on a diagram — and quote a replacement from stock where we have the size. That conversation happens in the bay, not after you have driven home on a temporary spare.
Which depot
Cars, vans and 4x4s go to Grattan Quay. Commercial, agri and plant go to Newrath. If you are not sure, call the depot you usually use and we will send you to the right one. A van on a car ramp wastes everyone’s morning.
- Book Grattan Quay for passenger punctures — 051 873777
- Book Newrath for truck, trailer and agri — 051 857666
- Bring the vehicle if you can. A wheel in the boot is second-best
Do not drive on it hoping
A slow puncture that has been topped up all week often has a damaged carcass by the time it reaches us. If the warning light is on, or the tyre is sitting low, book today. We would rather inspect a tyre we can save than replace four because one ran flat around the ring road.
What to have ready
- The vehicle if possible
- The spare if you already swapped the wheel
- Any repair kit already used — tell us
