The car is telling you before the tyre does
Pulling to one side, a steering wheel that sits off-centre, a new set that is noisy in three months: that is alignment. Laser tracking at Grattan Quay measures toe, camber and caster on cars and vans. Truck tracking is Newrath.
We see it after potholes, kerbs, and a plus-size wheel that was never checked for offset. If the arms are bent we will tell you rather than chasing a number that will not hold.
Do not buy four tyres and skip the tracking
A new set on a car that is still toed-in will wear the same way as the last set. Make an enquiry for alignment, tell us what the car is doing, and we will measure it. If you also need tyres, say so. We can often fit a set while the geometry is done, or send you to the shop for a size we hold on the passenger rack.
Questions we get at the counter
How often should alignment be checked?
After a knock, after new tyres, or when wear is uneven. There is no calendar law. If the wheel is off-centre, do not wait for the NCT.
Is alignment paid online?
No. Labour is a workshop enquiry. You pay at the depot after we confirm the job.
Shop or send an enquiry
If you already know the size or the wheel, pay in the shop. If you want us to read it off the car, make an enquiry. We call you back.
